Sanga 12: New Books, Mayapur Lila
Friday, February 09, 2007Welcome to Episode 12 of the Krishna.com Sanga podcast. We highlight four new books about Krishna that just arrived from India: A new translation of Rupa Goswami's Bhakti Rasamrita Sindhu (2 Volumes) by Bhanu Swami. The Glories of Ekadasi, translated by Bhumipati Dasa, describes the stories of the 26 Ekadasi (fasting) days in the Vaishnava calendar year. And two historical commentaries on Lord Krishna's Bhagavad-gita by eminent Vaishnava scholars, now available in English: Saratha-varsini-tika, by Visvanatha Chakravarti Thakura, and Gita Bhusana, by Baladeva Vidyabhusana.
You'll also hear an up-close and personal interview with Mayapur Lila Dasi, one of our staff members who comes to us from South Africa. She talks about her first encounter with Krishna consciousness, about her childhood growing up in a South African Catholic school, about the ongoing dialogue of faith with her devout Catholic mother, and how she finally ended up at Krishna.com and Back to Godhead magazine.
